Slate of Eight

We are running for the Newtonville Area Council, an elected body advocating for the Newtonvile community. We are committed to assuring that the Mayor and City Council hear your concerns about

•   Reasonable development that protects affordable housing, environmental sustainability and village character

•   A new zoning code that reflects the concerns of residents rather than developers

•   A traffic plan that improves the flow of cars and protects the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians

•   A new senior and community center that encourages participation by its location, scope and the services it provides.

As both newcomers and longtime Newtonville residents, we are committed to ensuring that Newtonville remains a welcoming and diverse community.

Candidate Statement: Dana D'Agostino

My husband (Tony) and I have lived on Cabot Street for over 30 years. We feel very fortunate to have raised a family here, where all three children attended Newton Public Schools. I have a degree from Boston University's Questrom School of Business and helped grow a small business over the last 18 years.

I was elected to the Newtonville Area Council (NAC) in 2017 and have been a strong voice for fiscal responsibility and transparency by developers throughout the Newtonville Area . During my term, I was involved in many NAC initiatives, including a community design meeting (charrette) in late 2018 and the development and implementation of the Envisioning Washington Street Public Opinion Survey in 2018 and 2019. I am the acting Treasurer and this year a co-organizer of Newtonville Village Day, an annual event that celebrates our community.
